Terms & conditions

Terms & conditions.

These terms apply to every quote, booking and job carried out by Kernow Detail Co. They set out honest, plain-English expectations around quotes, payment, weather, access, results, cancellations and liability, so there are no surprises for you or for us on the day.

The agreement

Booking means you accept these terms.

By requesting a quote and confirming a booking with Kernow Detail Co. (“we”, “us”, “the business”), you (“the customer”) agree to the terms below. If anything here is unclear, please ask before your appointment. These terms cover all of our services, including one-off valets, deep cleans, optional add-ons, maintenance plans, and multi-vehicle or fleet work.

1. Quotes & pricing

Every listed price is a starting (base) price for a normally soiled small or medium vehicle. Quotes are based on the vehicle type, the service requested and the photos or description you provide. The final price may be higher for larger vehicles (estates, SUVs, seven-seaters and vans), heavily soiled or neglected vehicles, or where extra work is needed. Any adjustment is discussed and agreed with you before work begins. A written or messaged quote is an estimate based on the information supplied and is not a fixed price if the vehicle differs materially from what was described.

2. Booking & appointments

A booking is confirmed once a date, time and location have been agreed. Arrival times are estimates and may vary due to traffic, weather or the time earlier jobs take; where a delay is likely, we aim to let you know. You are responsible for providing accurate vehicle details and a correct address. Someone aged 18 or over should be contactable, and access to the vehicle and its keys arranged, for the appointment.

3. Weather

This is a mobile, outdoor service, so work depends on safe and suitable weather. Heavy rain, storms, high winds, ice or freezing temperatures can affect both safety and results, so appointments may be rescheduled at short notice in these conditions. Where possible, an alternative time or a suitable covered space is arranged. No fee is charged for a weather-related reschedule made by us.

4. Site access & requirements

For a normal mobile appointment the customer must provide, free of charge, a working outdoor water tap, a safe mains electricity socket and enough safe, legal space around the vehicle for the work to be carried out. Any access limitation should be raised before the quote is accepted. If the required facilities or access are not available on arrival, the appointment may need to be rearranged and a call-out fee may apply to cover the wasted visit.

5. Preparation, valuables & personal items

Please remove all cash, valuables, electronics, documents and personal belongings from the vehicle before the appointment. We do not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to items left in the vehicle. Child seats may be cleaned around but are not removed or refitted unless specifically agreed, as correct refitting is the owner’s responsibility.

6. Results & limitations

Every reasonable effort is made to improve the vehicle safely, but complete removal of every stain, odour, mark or contaminant cannot be guaranteed. Results depend on the material, how long the problem has been present, previous cleaning attempts and any permanent damage already caused.

  • Permanent dye transfer, bleaching, burns, tears, cracking and worn trim may remain.
  • Deep stains, embedded pet hair, sand and long-standing odours may only be reduced, not fully removed.
  • Scratches, stone chips, corrosion, oxidation and damaged paint are not repaired by a standard valet.
  • Mould, bodily fluids, hazardous waste or unsafe contamination may require specialist treatment or be declined.
  • A clay bar / decontamination treatment cleans the paint surface only and does not remove scratches, swirls or etching.

7. Vehicle condition & extra work

Any pre-existing damage, fragile or loose trim, aftermarket parts, damaged electrics, weak stitching, water leaks or known faults should be disclosed before work begins. If unexpected damage, contamination or additional work is discovered once underway, the job may be paused and any change in price or scope will be discussed and agreed with you before continuing.

8. Add-ons & optional extras

Specialist work — such as excessive pet-hair removal, stain treatment, extra extraction time, heavy sand or mud removal, paint decontamination, leather cleaning or size supplements — is only added when needed and is quoted and agreed before the appointment. This keeps standard prices fair for everyone.

9. Maintenance plans

Maintenance visits are for vehicles that have already had a suitable initial clean and are kept on an agreed recurring schedule. Plan pricing applies only while the plan remains active and the schedule is maintained. Vehicles that fall significantly out of condition may need a one-off deep clean, quoted separately, before plan pricing resumes. Either party may end a plan with reasonable notice.

10. Multi-vehicle & fleet work

Better-value pricing may be available where several vehicles are booked at the same address or location. Fleet and multi-vehicle rates, scheduling and any invoicing arrangements are confirmed in writing before work begins. Access, keys and a suitable working area for each vehicle remain the customer’s responsibility.

11. Payment

Payment is due in full on completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing. Accepted payment methods are confirmed at the time of booking. For agreed account, fleet or invoiced work, payment is due by the date stated on the invoice; late payment may result in future bookings being declined until the balance is settled.

12. Cancellations & rescheduling

At least 24 hours’ notice is appreciated to cancel or reschedule a booking. Repeated late cancellations, no-shows, or being unable to access the vehicle on arrival may result in a fee being charged before a future booking is confirmed. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule where weather, illness, breakdown or circumstances beyond our control prevent us from working safely.

13. Liability & insurance

Work is carried out with reasonable skill and care using professional products and equipment, and the business holds public liability insurance. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept liability for:

  • Pre-existing damage, wear and tear, or faults not caused by our work.
  • Damage to poorly fitted, aftermarket, corroded, perished or already-compromised parts and surfaces.
  • Faults revealed (but not caused) by cleaning, such as leaks, failing trim or worn paint under dirt.
  • Loss of or damage to personal items left in the vehicle.
  • Indirect or consequential loss, including loss of use of the vehicle.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the price paid for the service in question.

14. Reporting an issue

If you are not happy with any part of the work, or believe damage has occurred, please let us know as soon as possible and within 48 hours of completion, with photographs where relevant, so it can be inspected and fairly resolved. Please allow us the opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, put right any genuine issue before arranging or paying for third-party work.

15. Right to decline or stop work

Work may be declined or stopped where a vehicle presents a health or safety risk, where the site is unsafe or inaccessible, where required facilities are missing, or where behaviour towards the technician is abusive, threatening or unsafe. Where work is stopped for these reasons, a reasonable charge may apply for time and travel.

16. Privacy & your data

The contact details, vehicle information and photos you provide are used only to prepare quotes, arrange bookings and carry out the service. Your information is not sold. “Before and after” photos of vehicles may be used for examples of our work and marketing, but only in a way that does not show number plates or personal details, and we will not use identifiable images of you or your property without your agreement.

17. Website & content

Prices, service descriptions, times and photographs shown on this website are provided in good faith as a general guide and may change without notice. Estimated durations are approximate. Example images and reviews are used to illustrate the type of work offered and do not guarantee identical results on every vehicle.

18. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time, and the version in force is the one published on this page at the date of your booking. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect.

19. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer.
